Standardized Testing

BAHA does not currently offer standardized testing, but we do recommend it for a couple reasons:

  1. Test taking practice

Regardless of your homeschooling journey and preferences, if your child plans on attending college, he/she will everntually need to take the SAT or ACT, Taking standardized test throughout their educational journey will help them be more confident and comfortable with a testing environment. You can do this every year or every third year or whatever best suites your family, but it is definitely a good idea.

  2. Insight

While we as homeschoolers can march to the beat of our own drums and set and achieve our own goals with our children’s education, it is nice to know from time to time, their academic level compared to the general population of student’s their age. This is not a refection of your homeschool success, or your child’s success, but more a litmus test that can serve you and your child well, as you continue on your path of home education.

  3. National Honor Society

We will be launching our very own chapter of National Honor Society and students whose scores from the IOWA standardized tests , and/or ACT and SAT meet the requirements, will be able to apply for membership. There are also many other clubs and scholarships outside of BAHA that may reward or recognize students because of their test scores.

HEP is a local bookstore and home educational class resource that offers standardized testing each spring, You can find more info on their website.
