English Through Literature 8/9

• Steck-Vaughn Core Skills Language Arts Workbook Grade 8

• The Annotated Shakespeare: The Tempest 

• Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne

• A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain 

Course Description: This course is designed to both teach students to read with discernment and to train them to be independent, self-motivated learners. Students will be introduced to great literature from the Western tradition and provided with tools to strengthen their writing skills. 

Students will also continue to sharpen their knowledge of grammar with simple assignments that will keep them fresh on all of the foundational concepts needed to build their writing and communication skills.
