Course Description: Step into the world of the stage with this dynamic creative writing course focused entirely on playwriting. Designed for high school students who love storytelling, performance, or collaboration, this class emphasizes the creation of original scripts with the goal of live production. Students will learn the art and craft of writing for the theater—developing characters, crafting dialogue, shaping dramatic structure, and refining stage directions.

But this isn’t just a writing class—it’s a creative lab. Students will collaborate with peers, workshop scenes, and revise with the intention that their work will come to life in performance. Whether you’re a budding playwright, actor, or simply a creative thinker, this course gives students the chance to write something meaningful and see it staged.

By the end of the course, students will have completed at least one original short play or scene, with selected works moving in to rehearsal and performance phases.
